Taking Singing as part of your Leaving Cert Music Practical?
This programme has been created specifically for 6th-year singers who want to develop their confidence, expression and performance skills and feel really prepared when it comes time to perform.
Whether you're an experienced singer or you've never had singing lessons before, this programme will give you the opportunity to develop as a performer, explore your repertoire and learn how to communicate your songs with confidence.
We'll focus on the performance element of your singing, helping you move beyond simply singing the notes and learn how to communicate,
connect and really perform your chosen pieces.

You Don't Need to be an Experienced Singer
You might already have lots of singing experience, or you may never have had singing lessons or completed a singing exam.
You don't need a particular level of experience to take part. What matters is that you love to sing and want to become a stronger, more confident performer.
Why I Created the Leaving Cert Singing Performance Programme
“Over the years, I've seen first-hand the difference that focused performance work can make for Leaving Cert students. Being able to sing the notes is only one part of a successful performance. Confidence, stage presence, expression, communication and the ability to manage nerves all play such an important role.
I wanted to create a programme where students could really focus on these areas, develop their performance skills and, most importantly, build belief in themselves as performers.
Having experienced performance examinations myself, I know how much pressure can come with being assessed. I also know that confidence is something that grows through preparation, experience, encouragement and learning to trust in your own ability.
That's why I created the Leaving Cert Singing Performance Programme: to give young singers the opportunity to develop as performers, gain valuable practical experience and walk into their exam knowing that they are capable of doing it.
I want students to come away from the programme not only feeling more prepared, but believing in themselves and in what they can achieve.
Because being a good singer and being a confident performer are two different things, and both can be developed.”

THE PROGRAMME
A four-part performance journey taking place from October 2026 to January 2027.
1. Performance Foundations
Sunday 11th October 2026
11am–12.30pm
Building the foundations of confident performance; exploring stage presence, confidence, connection, expression and what makes a performance memorable.
2. Performance Skills & Repertoire
Sunday 15th November 2026
11am–12.30pm
Developing expression, interpretation and communication while working on your chosen repertoire and building the skills needed to deliver a strong, engaging performance.
3. Mock Singing Performance Experience
Sunday 10th January 2027
approximately 11am–1pm (tbc)
A realistic mock singing performance experience designed to help you feel prepared for performing under pressure. Each singer will have the opportunity to perform their repertoire in an exam-style environment and receive individual feedback.
4. Feedback & Final Performance Polish
Sunday 17th January 2027
11am–12.30pm
Reflecting on your mock singing performance, working through feedback and putting the finishing touches to your performances so you feel confident, prepared and ready for your Leaving Cert practical.
Please Note
This is a specialist singing performance programme, rather than Leaving Cert Music tuition. The programme focuses specifically on your singing performance and does not cover areas such as aural skills, Music Technology or other elements of the Leaving Cert Music course.
